I’m Carol, a mother runner since only 2013. I started to run when my youngest was a baby, to try to lose weight with a Couch to 5k program. By some stroke of wonder it stuck, I got the “bug”, and I’ve been running since.
(my first 10k – Crosstown Classic September 2013)
I’ve done a slew of 5ks, 10ks, a few half-marathons and started marathoning with the 2015 Chicago Marathon. I’ve since run additional marathons, a trail half-marathon, and this July 2017 will do my first ultra – a 12 hour race.
In my other life I work full time in IT and try to find time for my kids’ activities. I’m a momma of three – Natalya, Esteban, & Cecelia, who are the light of my life. I may even get one of them to join me and become a runner (see my little runner below from our Myrtle Beach vacation in 2014!).
I’m up sometime between 3:30am – 4:00am on a typical day, depending on how many miles I need to run that day. I’m out the door with my kids by (hopefully) 6:15am. Since I’m gone basically 12 hours a day, I’m grateful for that slice of “me” time in the early morning. All this craziness in my schedule is why I need to get in my “miles (run) before the sun”.
